Hi
We would like to create Workgroups to manage access control groups, in 8.3.0.9431 an organisation cannot be a member of a workgroup. Does anyone know if that rule changes in 9.3? We are planning to upgrade later this year. My other question is, is it possible to change the icons of the location types? It would be great to have a really different visual icon for our access control groups so that users know they are selecting an access control group not a division or team etc, hence why we would like to use Workgroups, but if we can't make an organisation record type a member it will be too time consuming to add each individual position to the workgroups.
Cheers

Ah OK, not sure there is anything that can be done to customise the icons, unfortunately.
A solid naming convention can go a long way to help identify groups in a list.

If you open the helpfile in the CM client and run a search for "Location type rules and behaviour"
There is a table that shows which location type can have other location types as members.
But an organisation is the top of the pyramid so that rule hasn't changed for being a member of a workgroup.
It sounds like you might be better off using "groups" as they can have very similar functionality to an "organisation" and can have orgs as members

Thanks we are managing them via groups, but we like how visually different the workgroup icon is, it clearly shows that it is an access control group while "groups" icon is very similar to organisations and people etc.......
Thanks for your comments 🙂

Thanks Greg
Totally agree re naming conventions for Groups, we do use those but for the end user visually identifying them would be great also.
