moving document stores

During an upgrade it would be good to be able to build the IDOL index on the new systems servers while the existing system is still using the doc stores. (we will need to manage the IO load)

Before the new system goes live the document stores themselves will be moved to different servers, just a  simple copy, no restucturing. Obviously the Docstore details will need to updated in CM, but will IDOL have a problem with the Doc Store move? I'm thinking it should be OK, they're not that tightly coupled.

Will this work?

Some think that IDOL contains the physical document path (dynterm or nodetable) and will therefore be wrong after the move.

Avoiding reindexing down-time would be very good.

Re: moving document stores

IDOL does not store a reference to the document store path, just the record identifiers.  So you should be safe doing as you've described.
