web drawer custom menu

Hi,

i want to customize webdrawer by adding a menu to crate records. and when user clicks on create menu it should show a drop down list with all record types and the user selects the record type it should show the form configured for that record type.

this is similar to webclient functionality.

1. how to add a custom menu in "_Layout.cshtml".

2. how to show the form fields configured to record type.

thanks,

Sarath.

Re: web drawer custom menu

Is this a publicly accessible instance of webdrawer? You're opening yourself up to a world of hackers if it is...

If you're using anonymous authentication all records will be created via the webdrawer service account which isn't good for audit tracking.

You might need to get some clarification from HP on whether you're allowed to do this, as theoretically this could then be used to bypass your license limit.

There are a number of samples for this style of thing in the ServiceAPI help (which is available when you install the ServiceAPI).  The samples demonstrate using the Data Entry Form Definition to construct a web form based on the Record Type form.

Typically the samples:

  • use a combobox with an onchange event to select the Record Type
  • use Razor (or JS) to construct the form based on the DataEntryFormDefinition property

Have a look at these two:

  • /examples/DynamicRecordForm
  • /CreateRecordExample

The first uses JavaScript and the second Razor.
