Object name in omnidb command

Object name in omnidb command

Hello,

The situation that I have is that I found a discrepancy between the output of the commands and the needed data when we try to collect information about one object using omnidb command.

If we run omnidb -winfs we received an output like this:

C:\Windows\system32>omnidb -winfs
Object Name Object type
===============================================================================
server1.com:/C 'C:' WinFS
server1.com:/C 'server1.com [/C]' WinFS
server1.com:/D 'D: [NewDisk]' WinFS
server2.com:/C 'server2.com [/C]' WinFS
server3.com:/C 'C:' WinFS

But if we try to retrieve information about object one object (server1.com:/C 'C:') it fails with this output:

C:\Windows\system32>omnidb -winfs server1.com:/C 'C:'
No objects were found.

or

C:\windows\system32>omnidb -winfs server1.com:/D 'D: [NewDisk]'
Usage synopsis:

omnidb -version | -help

omnidb -session [ -datalist Datalist] [-type { restore | backup | verification } ] [-user User]
[ [-since Date] [-until Date] | -last Number | -latest |
-wo start duration ]
[ -detail ]

According to the version. I tried with DP 10.04 and 10.30, respectively.

That does not look good for me because this is the output of the first command used to list the objects.

The correct way to run the command to get the data is:

C:\Windows\system32>omnidb -winfs server1.com:/C "C:"
SessionID Started Duration Object Status Size [KB] NumberOfErr
=============================================================================================
2019/03/27-6 08:57:12 00:00:15 Completed 165385 0
2019/03/27-2 02:51:33 00:00:41 Completed 165385 0
2019/03/27-3 02:52:25 00:00:00 Failed 0 0

or

C:\windows\system32>omnidb -winfs server1.com:/D "D: [NewDisk]"
SessionID Started Duration Object Status Size [KB] NumberOfErr
=============================================================================================
2019/03/18-8 05:19:34 00:00:04 Failed 2028 2
2019/03/18-7 05:19:05 00:00:07 Completed 34916 0

Note that we need double quotes to make it work.

So, the correct output of the omnidb -winfs command should be with double quotes too.

Hi Victor,

I checked with engineering and looks to be a defect. Can you please open a support case for this incident. I am going to decline this idea since we feel its a defect and not an enhancement.

Thanks.
Sheetal
