PostgreSQL Configuration Files Outside of Database Cluster Data Directory

Brief description:

By default critical PostgreSQL configuration files (postgresql.conf, pg_ident.conf, pg_hba.conf) are stored within the Database Cluster Data Directory. This makes backup of the configuration files complicated because the other elements of this directory are usually only backed up using the PostgreSQL integration and not using a Disk Agent.

PostgreSQL offers configuration options to place the configuration files in a separate location. This is not supported by Data Protector.

See the following link for details.

Server Configuration - File Locations
https://www.postgresql.org/docs/10/runtime-config-file-locations.html

Benefit:

This change would allow a better protection of the PostgreSQL instance using the Data Protector Integration Agent and the instance configuration data via the Disk Agent.
