Pre/Post Exec before and after creating VMware ZDB Snapshots

Brief description:

Data Protector should allow to configure Pre/Post Exec before and after creating VMware ZDB snapshots on the VEPA backup host. Right now we can only configure Pre/Post Exec scripts for the whole backup session.

In addition to that we should have script execution on the VEPA backup host (see Application system options below) that will be executed before snapshot creation (Pre) and after snapshot removal (Post) similar to other applications supported by ZDB.

  • Session Start
  • Session Pre Exec
  • Pre Exec on the VEPA Backup Host (to be added)
  • VMware Snapshot Creation
  • Hardware Snapshot Creation
  • VMware Snapshot Removal
  • Post Exec on the VEPA Backup Host (to be added)
  • Backup Phase (may take a long time)
  • Session Post Exec
  • Session Finish

Benefit:

Have more options to interact with the operating system and/or applications backed up in VMware Zero Downtime Backups.
