Wiederintegration of PDF Documentations into the GUI help

0 Votes

Hello,

in the past, the documentation was supplied with the GUI in the form of individual PDF files and was linked in the help menu.

Today it is only available online. This online presentation turned out very well except for the problem of missing an overall enumeration of the chapters and sub-chapters. I also see the advantages of updating in just one place without redundant offline replicas, which are only updated asynchronously and are therefore not up-to-date.

Nevertheless I have the following wish:
It would be very helpful if the documentation and the Support matrices would again be supplied as a PDF with the software and the updates and fully linked in the GUI (regardless of whether individually or completely).
Possibly one could also create a mechanism that the documentation can be downloaded by the customer regardless of the software updates at any time in a way, in which it is automatically recorded and linked by the GUI after being stored in a defined GUI directory.
Or the customer himself can link them in a sub-item of the help menu.

Kind Regadrs

Hi @paulsupport , you are able to create a PDF version of online available documentation on the portal itself. To have all in one PDF choose "Export all the pages" on Home screen. In addition you may create PDDFs for subchapters too.

Yes, I know. But my entry is a wish for an ADDITIONAL re-integration of the doc in the GUI.

There has been a dedicated and well thought-of reason why we moved the docs into DocOps since it allows for faster updates, multiple languages and synchronized distribution. Providing PDF's separately would force for regular updates (on both sides!).

We are checking the info in DocOps, and we are improving it where needed and when we have a good opportunity. PDF's can be created anytime like Marc pointed out above. We have no plans to add PDF distribution again.

Uli

We have no plans to re-integrate offline PDF documentation since you can create them from DocOps. The DP Offline Help had an issue recently which just got fixed. DocOps is not yet 100% including the previous PDF material, we know that. But we will work on DocOps to fix that, not by re-introducing offline PDF.
