[138:714] Old Detail Catalog Binary Files size

Jump to solution

In the event log i receive the message:

[138:714] Old Detail Catalog Binary Files size: 0 of old DCBF take up 0MB, old filename data files take up 0MB. In total, the old Detail Catalog Binary Files take up 0MB.

I cannot find similar problem on the internet.

Do you know what could be the problem and how can I solve it?

Thank you!

I am guessing that you recently updated to DP 8

The Upgrade involves the use of an entirely new IDB, which make use of a newer version of Detail Catalog Binary Files (DCBF).  Each of these files holds all information of what is on a corresponding media

Yhe upgrade to DP 8 does not convert the older (DP 7 and below) DCBF file to the new format.  Instead they run side-by-side, with the ability to Restore  using the older version of the DCBF.  As the sessions on the media become unprotected, and the media is reused, you will see this message in your event log, with the number of Old Detail Catalog Binary Files getting smaller, until they reach '0'

So, the message is just telling you that you have no more Old Detail Catalog Binary Files

Hello Bob!

Your answer was the most enlightening that I heard.

We have a trigger that dispatch an alert every monday like some:

Warning 10/02/2017 12:30 OMNITRIG Alarm "[138:714] Old Detail Catalog Binary Files size: 15 of old DCBF take up 1922MB, old filename data files take up 6817MB. In total, the old Detail Catalog Binary Files take up 8740MB.

Consulting "Concepts Manual: Detail Catalog Binary Files (dcbf)" this is descripted: "The CDB is located in the following directory: (On Windows Server 2008) Data_Protector_program_data\db40\datafiles\cdb".

I've checked this folder and really this contains some data from old version (2014).

Your answered my doubt.

Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

Juliano Flores
