5.50 to 6.11 Upgrade Question

Jump to solution
Hello Folks,

on a two node ServiceGuard cluster which runs Data Protector (as a cluster package), in case anything goes bad, how could I go back to 5.50? (I have backed up the entire /omni FS before the upgrade which has the IDB, etc)

Please advice

Re: 5.50 to 6.11 Upgrade Question

Jump to solution
bring down the package
activate the shared vg and mount the lvol on it
see that no omni processes are running
take a tar of the shared disk, your /etc/omni and /opt/omni

like this you can return ALWAYS.

then swinstall on the node. During the install the IDB will be detected and a DB migration executed

patch

double check and adjust sg.conf,csfailover.ksh,maailover.ksh, cell_server and the owner of the CDB

now start the package on this node

jump to node 2 while node 1 has the shared disk

remove the links to the shared storage
execute an install ==> new 6.11 setup
bring it down and delete the newly created IDB

recreate the softlinks to the shared disk

check elementary files as indicated above

Dirty, YES
effective, always !!!!

but you have to know the DP structure

Thanks a lot for the response.

I have backed up the entire /omni before the upgrade, that is where the entire DP stuff lies in.

Say on ServiceGuard I want to go back from 6.11 to 5.50

what would be the procedure?

Would I have to re-install the 5.50 patches and install 5.50 from scratch before restoring the IDB?
