Best backup menthod

I have one MSA1500, two logical volumes are present, both logical volumes of 2TB size.

One logical volume presented to application server (HP-UX, FTP service, the data is on vxfs)-> DP backup client

I have DP cell 6.1 running on another HP-UX box.

DP Cell, MSA, application server are in a SAN, in the same fabric.

Now i am thinking, assign the second MSA logical volume to the DP Cell box, create a vxfs on it, configured this place as media place, and store the application server backups here.

Is there any better approach than what i am thinking?

Is there any SAN based back features that i can use here ?
