DP 10.20 Resume Session/Restart Failed Objects causes "internal error cause: IOException" error

Jump to solution

If we try to resume or restart failed object from a failed filesystembackup it causes an IOExeption.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Jasmin!

This is a known issue, that must be solved on next version of DP.

There is a workaround to solve this. You must edit the global file at:

**********************UNIX**********************
/etc/opt/omni/server/options/global

*********************Windows******************

\programdata\omniback\config\server\options\global

1. Add the parameter at the end of the file:

UseJCEForRestartResume=0

2. Restart the DP services:

omnisv -stop / omnisv -start

Please give us a Kudo if you find this answer useful. Best Regards!

Hello,

We're still waiting for QCCR2A81514 to be fixed to make this workaround no longer required.

Why this hasn't been resolved??? and we have to add a parameter to global file

I was checking internally and looks like this is solved in DP 10.30 as part of another internal fix. The main problem is that DP uses the REST API to do the restart, but it was failing. So, the main issue with the REST API was solved and this one too.

Could anyone confirm if you with DP 10.30 or 10.40 still have the issue?

@ludovic_s, please collect debugs of the issue and open a support ticket. Then send me the case ID via private message. We will need to check this out with developers.

To collect the debugs do this:

  • Remove the variable from the global and restart the services.
  • Make sure that you have a session that you can try the restart.
  • Open the GUI with this command: manager -debug 1-500 IOException.txt
  • Reproduce the issue, take a screenshot and close the GUI.
  • Collect the debugs from ProgramData\Omniback\tmp and /tmp if your CM is Unix/Linux.

Hi @pankajguptaHCL,

It only works if UseJCEForRestartResume=0 has been defined in the global options file. I have a case open with @Victor_F_DP to have this finally resolved.

Hello,

I have received and successfully tested the hot fix for this problem. So for Data Protector A.10.40 the fix QCCR2A84018 resolves the problem. It was pretty late so I don't expect it will made it into A.10.50, but the release after that should have it. Until then use the global option workaround or request the hot fix from support.
