DP55 Oracle10g

Hi

I tried to configure an Oracle (10g) release 2 Backup on a HP-UX server in Data Protector 5.5 but got an error message:

[Major] From: util_oracle8.exe@legolas forrman Time: 04/17/06 13:44:19
Failed to read configuration parameter ORACLE_VERSION.

I installed patch, and created de link to libobk.so

What's wrong...any ideas?

Hi,
We had the same problem,
You have to do:
1. Uninstall the client
2. Install the client with CD or Installer (Not Installation Server)
3. Don't apply any parchs.
4. create the Oracle Backup.
5. Finally parch the Client system.

Have a Nice Day!

Hi Monikvm

The configuration for 10g is just like in 9i
so, just double check your configuration.
a note for you that in 10g, you can do the backup using the windows interface, but you can not restore using this feature.
You have to restore from the command line using RMAN.
Good luck!

Hi,
If you want to restore with oracle 10g, you have to do:
1.From OS:
su - oracle
sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
shutdown immediate;
startup mount;

2.Then restore using GUI.

We can do it, all the time.

See you.

Hi Monikvm, we've experienced the same error in Oracle 9i integration and was a problem with the sys password provided in the configuration.

To check if you're suffering the same error, you can do this:

+ In client side, search in DP temp path (ussually /var/opt/omni/tmp) for files with this pattern conf_.<#>

+ Open the latest file and you'll see something like:

TGTLogin='................'
ORACLE_HOME='/...........'

+ In CM side, go to \Config\Server\Integ\Config\Oracle8

+ Now, you can see 2 files for every Oracle Backup:

%_OB2_GLOBAL: Instance List

%: Parameters ORACLE_HOME, TGTLogin, ORACLE_VERSION, ORACLE_DBID

+ Create/Modify these files for your online integration using the proper parameters. Tips:

a) Don't create TGTLogin
b) You can get ORACLE_DBID from your database with this query:

SELECT NAME,DBID FROM V$DATABASE

Try to configure again the backup, and tell me what's the output.

Regards.

PD. Excuse my poor english

Hello,

I had the same problem and i found yesterday the solution, it seems to be an oracle problem...

Try to loging to the database the same way DP is trying to login...

sqlplus /@ as sysdba

what i found out is i get:

SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.3.0 - Production on Tue Jun 26 15:10:46 2007

Copyright (c) 1982, 2006, Oracle. All Rights Reserved.

SQL> ERROR:

ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

SQL> SP2-0640: Not connected

SQL>
