Jump to solution
Hi,

I have installed DP 6.1 in win2k3 direct attached IBM 3580 having 24 slot 2 drive in location A.

And IBM 3583 having 36 Slot 2 Drive in Location B.

Please clarify how the backup data will flow as my Cell Manager in Location A. For location B Servers...

?????? Any response is highly appreciated..Thanks

Provided the drives are connected to a Media Server at Location B, then:

Lets say:

Location A
cell manager

Location B
IBM 3583 tape drive called LB_tape
media server, connected to LB_tape (above)
one to many clients (ClientA - Client?)

the backed-up data will trave from the Client system to the local Media Server and then to tape. The metadat (filenames, sizes, and so forth) will travel from the Client to the Cell Manager at location A

Only metadata will travel to the cell manager, the backed up data will not travel to the cell manager, this comunication will be between the client and the host with the local library.
