Data Migration from BAD tape to New Tape

Dear All,

We are using DP 10.40A in our environment and taking backup on a Dell TL4000 Library. our vendor suggest to replace some bad tapes from the library and replace with the new tape. as all the tapes from different pools.

My Question is if we replace the tape how we move or migrate the data inside the BAD tape to new tape. also in future if we want to restore the data from that tape how the DP came to know that the LTO tape and its barcode label changed?

Hello

My Question is if we replace the tape how we move or migrate the data inside the BAD tape to new tape

the best option is to do a copy job from older tape to new tape or copy media

if we want to restore the data from that tape how the DP came to know that the LTO tape and its barcode label changed?

If you do a copy job or copy media in a future restore scenario you will be able to select from which tape will restore data, But never never reuse bar code for new tapes always use a single bar code for each physical tape.

Best Regards
