The error was pointing because global file copied from old CM where as this was a fresh installation.

In gloabl file, parameter was set SupportOldDCBF=1, need to chnage it to SupportOldDCBF=0 if we don't have any db40 folder.

Thanks,

Hi Syed,

Could you check:
1. If there is any errors recorded in programdata\omniback\log\appserver (boot, run, server)?

2. If programdata\omniback\tmp\AppServer" or "programdata\omniback\log\AppServer" folders missing?

3. What happen when you stop DP services & delete all files under programdata\omniback\log\appserver, then start DP services, will  new files generated in programdata\omniback\log\appserver?

4. Any error recorded in windows application/event log?

Best Regards,
Haniza

Hi Haniza,

Thank you for your email. Please find the requested details as below:
1. If there is any errors recorded in programdata\omniback\log\appserver (boot, run, server)?

No errors

2. If programdata\omniback\tmp\AppServer" or "programdata\omniback\log\AppServer" folders missing?

Both folders are there

3. What happen when you stop DP services & delete all files under programdata\omniback\log\appserver, then start DP services, will  new files generated in programdata\omniback\log\appserver?

Deleting all files under programdata\omniback\log\appserver and starting DP services generates new files .r.lock, boot.log, DPServer.log, run.log, server.log.

4. Any error recorded in windows application/event log?

There are errors in the Windows Application log for dbsm.exe. Full error details are as follow:

Hi Syed,

Let's see if we can capture any error/info relates to hpdp-as failing to start, you can go to command prompt
cd "c:\program files\omniback\appserver\bin "

Edit  file standalone.bat via running "notepad standalone.bat" and modify "@echo off" to  "@echo on"
and run "standalone.bat > c:\temp\syed_standalone.txt" to capture the screen output.

Check for any error in that output file (c:\temp\syed_standalon.txt).

I would suggest you to open a support case so we can check in more detail.

Haniza

Hi Haniza,

As per your suggestions reading syed_standalone.txt point me mainly to 2 errors as below:

12:10:42,158 ERROR [org.jboss.msc.service.fail] (MSC service thread 1-10) MSC00001: Failed to start service jboss.remoting.server.management: org.jboss.msc.service.StartException in service jboss.remoting.server.management: JBAS017112: Address already in use: bind /127.0.0.1:9999

Hello Syed,

12:10:42,158 ERROR [org.jboss.msc.service.fail] (MSC service thread 1-10) MSC00001: Failed to start service jboss.remoting.server.management: org.jboss.msc.service.StartException in service jboss.remoting.server.management: JBAS017112: Address already in use: bind /127.0.0.1:9999  <<---

Looks like port 9999 is already being used, which is needed by appserver/java

You can run “netstat –abn” to see the ports. On working system you should see.
  TCP    127.0.0.1:9990         0.0.0.0:0              LISTENING  [java.exe]

It is possible some other application could have taken the ports. I would suggest rebooting to free them up.
You may want to also check with your network admin.

Best Regards,
Haniza

Hi Haniza,

Running netstat -abn lists me o/p for port 990 as:
TCP    127.0.0.1:9990         0.0.0.0:0              LISTENING
[java.exe]

I have tried rebooting this several times in past few days and see this error Cannot start "hpdp-as" service, system error: still persists.

Also I would like to bring into your notice some back history for this issue.  Around 1 week before from now I suddenly notice my DP GUI session messages not showing and giving some error. Then I tried restarting DP services when I noted first time hpdp-as services not coming up. Case ID for the case is 5317274028.

Thanks & Regards,

Syed

Hi Syed,

So, it means right after reboot, hpdp-as issue service be Active?

Via “netstat –abn” , can you post here for the following port 127.0.0.1:9999?

example:

  TCP    127.0.0.1:9999         0.0.0.0:0              LISTENING  [java.exe]

btw, case 5317274028 is already closed, resolved by reboot.

Haniza

Hi Haniza,

 Requested O/p As below:
 TCP    127.0.0.1:9999         0.0.0.0:0              LISTENING [java.exe]

The case was closed because all backup and services starting working normal, I dodn't notice that I am still getting error whenever the serivce restart. Anyway I have already re-open the case with case ID 5317509015

Thanks & Regards,

Syed
