Data Protector Reporting

Hi,

Is their any way to generate backup specification report with retention date apart from success/failure. As we have requirement to generate report at the end of each month which shows retention date along with each backup specifications.

We are running data protector version 10.20.

Re: Data Protector Reporting

Hello @MurtuzaS

Via report I cannot found any of them that give this direct data. What I can found is a report for the mediums used with the protection. It does exist in the new Reporting server method or the legacy one:

https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Data_Protector:2018.11/Use/Monitor/Description/DES_About_Reporting/Sessions_in_timeframe_reports#Media_usage_by_sessions

https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Data_Protector:2018.11/Use/Monitor/Description/DES_About_Reporting/Pools_and_media_reports#Extended_list_of_media_report

If this does not work for you, you will need to test with omnidb command. The point is that protection is saved per object, not per session. So the check needs to be done for each object in a session.

@Victor_F_DP

Thanks for the quick response, we saw that option, but that will not work for us, as its difficult to identify based on object. I believe Micro Focus team should provide such reports built-in.

Anywaz, do you know any omnidb command which can give such output.

Re: Data Protector Reporting

Hello @MurtuzaS

You can suggest to include this kind of reports in the Idea Exchange forum:
https://community.softwaregrp.com/t5/Data-Protection-Idea-Exchange/idb-p/DP_Ideas

You can try with something like this:

omnidb object -last days -detail

Here an example:

C:\Windows\system32> omnidb -winfs servername:/C 'C:' -last 1 -detail

SessionID : 2020/01/07-2
Started at : Tuesday, January 7, 2020, 9:15:53 PM
Finished at : Tuesday, January 7, 2020, 9:15:58 PM
Object status : Completed
Object size : 121 KB
Backup type : Full
Protection : Protected for 1 week
Catalog retention : Same as data protection.
Version type : Normal
Access : Private
Number of warnings : 0
Number of errors : 0
Device name : JukeDrive1
Backup ID : n/a
Copy ID : 41A501A7-143D-4746-A32C-C57BE148A369/1225 (Orig)
Encrypted : No
Point in time : Tuesday, January 7, 2020, 9:15:53 PM

Re: Data Protector Reporting

Hi @Victor_F_DP

Thanks for the quick response.

Unfortunately that command will not help. Anywaz we are doing manually using excel :).

Moreover, I have posted the idea on the portal, kindly vote.
