Database and Config restore

Jump to solution
Hello,

We have a Cell Manager running 5.5 on a HP 9000 box, we recently purchased a better HP9000 server we would like to use as our DP server.

How can I move everything from the 5.5 Cell Manager to the new 5.5 Cell Manager?

DP is already installed on the new 5.5 box

If you had purchased a new server, consider upgrading to a newer version of DP, 5.5 is out of support.

The easiest option is stop all DP services on the old server, copy /opt/omni, /var/opt/omni and /etc/opt/omni to the new server, use old IP and old name on the new server.

Another option is to copy the omni directories and use a new cell name, in this case you need a little bit more of work, you must chane the IDB catalog owner and change the cell name in the configuration file of your clients, etc.. etc..

One thing you must remember is that licenses ar tied to the server IP, so reusing the server IP is recomended, if you want to change it, you must go to webware.hp.com, to change this.

To make your life easy just copy the directories and use the old name and IP.

Hi,

USe following steps.

1. Install Same version of DP on new host (it is recommended to upgrade existing to 6.11 1st , before migration)

2. Keep IP of new host , same as that of OLD host (or atleat configure 2nd lan with OLD DP host IP)

3. Stop omni services on both the hosts
(omnisv stop)

4. Copy /etc/opt/omni, /var/opt/omni folders from OLD to NEW host.

5. Start omni services on NEW host (omnisv start)

6. If NEW host is having differrent host name, then rename CM using "omnidbutil -change_cell_name

7. If planning to change the NEW hosts IPs' write to HP to migrate OLD licenses to new host.
