Dp 7 and de-duplication

We are planning to upgrade from DP 6.2 to 7 running Windows 2008 R2 and use the de-dup feature after the upgrade.

On the new hardware, we are trying to decide between a dual quad-core, or, a dual 6-core for the cell manager which will also server as the media agent doing the de-dup.

Any suggestion on which hardware we would benefit more?

Thank you

not sure if that really matters since device/platform support matrix doesnt give that details...

Re: Dp 7 and de-duplication

it depends on how many parallel running bma should run on the new server and how big your environment is. As a general rule one CPU per bma process. So in you case and when you plan to use the dedup feature - use the dual 6 core and at least 8 GB RAM - 16 recommended.

Best regards
