Drive replaced and serial number has changed

Hello!
The LTO4 drive in our 1/8 autoloader has been replaced.
But Data Protector (A09.06 build 107) does not recognize the changed serial number.
The reload button is greyed out.

Restart of OMNI serices didn't help.
Some backups started with the warning

[Warning] From: UMA@here-is-my-fqdn "AUTOLDR" Time: 05.09.2018 13:33:38
The device "AUTOLDR" could not be opened("Serial number has changed")

Any ideas how to fix it ?

Best regards, Dirk

Re: Drive replaced and serial number has changed

hi,

Did you try to reboot the server?
You could run #devbra -dev and post it.
You tried to do the device again (autoconfigure Device)

Also verify that the device is not blocked
under drive properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Other
Use Lock Name

Re: Drive replaced and serial number has changed

Hello!
Thank you Eblyn for your answer.
Reboot of the server must be planned because it is file server, too.

devbra -dev shows the new serial number

omnidownload -list_devices -detail shows the old serial number

yes, there is a device lock name , but unmark this does not activate the RELOAD button on the drive tab in the GUI.

Any further ideas?

Best regards, Dirk

Re: Drive replaced and serial number has changed

hi ,

TRy this:

run this command and changed serial number on  dev.txt

Device_name is the name of the tape drive on autoloder configuration.

omnidownload -device Device_name -file dev.txt

changed serial number on dev.txt and  run:

omniupload -modify_device Device_name -file dev.txt

Close the GUI y open again, check if serial number changed.

Regards.

Re: Drive replaced and serial number has changed

Hello!
Thank you Eblyn for your answer.
A reboot didn't help.

The drive had been replaced due to an error moving a tape.
As the "new" drive also showed this behaviour, the chassis had been replaced, too (2 days later).

I followed your instructions to upload the new serial number and then I
clicked the "Reload" button for the chassis resp. robotic.

Now it works.

Best regards, Dirk
