EML + DP not full barcodes

Jump to solution

We have DP 6.1 connected to a HP EML E-Series. When barcode scanning this device from DP, the EML returns LTO barcode of [EUB146] for example instead of [EUB146L3]. Therefore DP is getting confused between LTO3 and LTO4 tapes in the same silo.

Looking at the silo management console, I can see that the silo inventories the tape with the full barcodes. So I don’t know if this is an issue with the EML Tape Silo, or if this is an issue with Data Protector.

Any assistance in this matter would be great.

Cheers,
Josh

Adjust from front panel:

Conï¬ guration > Library Conï¬ guration > Conï¬ gure Barcode Reporting Formats
This command deï¬ nes how bar codes are displayed on the OCP and sent to the host. Bar
code reporting can be conï¬ gured as six to eight characters and left or right aligned. If you
choose six characters with left alignment, any characters after the six are truncated. If you choose
six characters and right alignment, only the last six characters are shown with the beginning
characters truncated.

or configure from command view tl.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

usually there should be a parameter in the library letting you select the lenght of the barcode, check if it si set to 8 characters and not 6

Thanks for this information. This options is exactly what i was after.

Before i go ahead and make this change, Im assuming that when i do this, DP isn't going to be able to recognise the new extended Barcodes as the same tapes as before. So is there a way to manipulate the DP Database to modify the old 6 figure barcodes to the new 8 figure barcodes?
