in short: you can't

You will have to restore v7 DB to a v7 installation and then do an Upgrade to v9

Hi,

you can export the IDB from DP 7 (mmdb and cdb part) and use omnimigrate.pl Perl script to import the IDB into empty DP 9 cell (. Please use the script from DP 9.03 for that. In addition you have manually migrate all the remaining stuff (datalists, schedules, content from cell_info, and much more...). In addition you need to migrate the DCBF parts, either using mcf export and import in old cell or using omnimigrate.pl...

Please note: this is a very short summarize and not a complete documentation; you have to do a lot of steps to complete this manually migration. The migration using setup.exe will save you the manual effort required.

Best regards

Daniel

Re: How To take backup of internal database from data protector V7 to V9.

Sounds a lot like the Procedure suggested for v7 Installs with Long Pathnames or unsupported characters in latest v9 Admin-Guide (Page 350 and following)

https://softwaresupport.hp.com/group/softwaresupport/search-result/-/facetsearch/document/KM01060071

Exporting and Converting IDB Critical Data on source Server and importing it on Target probably works as described there.

Copying and using the Config-Files on clean installed DP9 on target is also not the Problem.

To also use the copied v7 DCBFs you will have to set SupportOldDCBF=1 in Global File manually since it is only set with Upgrade-Install, not on plain DP9 setup.

If that doesn't work you will need to import all DetailCatalogs directly from Tape since MCF exports don't work (Please correct me on that in case DP9.03 fixed this).
