Dear all,

I am OHM, Presale Engineer @ Thailand.
I have used DP 10.90 as cell manager but OpenVMS agent that come with software package is 10.30.

Cell Manager can import OpenVMS to be its client, but can do backup. So I want to download Cell Manager version 10.30 and do test again.

If it pass, I can continues do business with my customer.

Anyone can provide Cell Manager 10.30 for me

Thank

PS. Cell Manager install on Windows Server 2008R2 SP1 and OpenVMS version is 8.4-2L1U1 ( IA64 )

Hello @nspprempon,

The 10.90 Cell Manager is just fine with the 10.30 OpenVMS agent. What is not working with regards of backup/restore? You should not use Windows 2008 R2 as a Cell Manager anymore. It is not supported.

Dear

Cell 10.90 can import VMS 8.4-2L1U1 which installed DA 10.30.

When I created Backup, Cell show VMS system but can't see DKA0

Hello @nspprempon,

This is odd. Volume information is passed from the agent to the GUI. What happens if you select the entire OpenVMS host and run a test backup? Can you share the output here?

Hello @nspprempon,

I can see this test environment is not using DNS. Make sure the OpenVMS system can reach the Windows system on the hostname as seen in the Data Protector GUI. You may need to edit the hosts file on both systems.

Yes, I did use host file on both system, and set Win Serv 2016 in registry to force use IPV4 first before IPV6 too.

Both system can ping each name that set on host file.

Monday I will try with both agent and cell that use same version again.

Thank you very much for software package.

Hello @nspprempon,

The problem is coming from the OpenVMS client, not the Cell Manager. You can run manager -debug 1-300 GUI.txt on the Cell Manager and try to configure the backup spec. Close the GUI when you can't browse the client. Then look at the *GUI.txt files created in OMNI$ROOT:[TMP]. You can share the files here, if you can't find anything useful.
