Re: How to do parallel restore by Omniback II 3.1?

in Unix its fairly straight forward so here are the NT instructions.. let me know if you would like the unix instructions as well

(straight from the ITRC 🙂
1. Select the data you require as you would for a single restore.
2. Go Back to the Restore Context in the Scoping Pane, and repeat
the steps for the other data you want to restore.
3. In the action menu click Start Restore, follow the start session
wizard. 4. Select 'all selected objects (Parallel restore)'.
Minimum effort maximum output!

Re: How to do parallel restore by Omniback II 3.1?

Is the ORACLE agent able to do Parallel restores?? Informix Agents cannot.
I believe only filesystems can be restored in parallel. This may be due to database integrity..

I may be slow, but I get there !

Re: How to do parallel restore by Omniback II 3.1?

Thanks for reply.
We are using Omniback II 3.1 on HP-UX 11.00, and the Server is HP9000 L2000, DLT library is 2drives/20slots.
We backup Oracle by cold backup. I think it is possible to parallel store the backed up data.
We spent 20minitues to backup 8GB, but retored all 8GB spent 1hour20minitues. I think the restore shell is not good.
Would you please advice me the command?
I attached a file which is a screen copy of
result of "bdf" and the restore shell.

Re: How to do parallel restore by Omniback II 3.1?

Hi,

perhaps you'r searching this?

"The omnir command also supports parallel restore. You can achieve this
by specifying more than one object with command line options."

This is what the man page of omnir says to parallel restores.

A description for the UNIX GUI can be found in the OmniBack Administrator's Guide,
Chapter 6, page 231. (B6960-90014, Edition 2).

Bye,
Peter
