Re: How to setting a Backup in a Virtual Machine

hi,

Wirtual machines can be backup in 2 ways:

Like a physical machine, with the DP agent installed in

With Vmware Snapshots, with some scripting or with DP agent for Vmware.

Take a look at this page:

Hope this Help.

Regards.

Re: How to setting a Backup in a Virtual Machine

Generally speaking you can back them up commonly in 2 ways:

Inside the VM installing the data protector agent(s) as you would do a physical server. You would then pick and choose what folders/files you want to backup.

If you are using DP 6.1 you could the VMware online extension (requires license) for image and file level backups. If I am not wrong you'll install the extension on the VCB proxy server which will be the one performing the backups.

If your DP is lower than 6.0 you need to configure the integration packet Georges Esteves noted.

You may also need to consider your recovery requirements so that you can choose a backup method.

Also other factors like the guest OS support, and crash consistent image level backups, for example.

Take a look at the manuals,
For DP 6.1.0 you may want to check the HP Data Protector A.06.10 integration guide for VMware
