Licensing VMware Virtual environment integration

Jump to solution

Hi all,

I upgraded to DP 6.21 and want to start using VMware virtual environment integration. When i check the licenses it reports "Licensing is NOT covered".

I have 2 Echange 2010 servers  and a Vcenter with 4 hosts. It reports I need 8 Online extensions. In my opinion I only need 6 licenses.

This is my cell_info file:

-host "1" -os "microsoft i386 wNT-5.2-S" -da A.06.11

-host "2" -os "microsoft i386 wNT-5.2-S" -da A.06.11

That is indeed strange. Please "change the software installation" using the setup.exe located in the OmniBack\Depot\i386 on the CS or the network share \\cellserver\Omniback\i386. This folder includes everthing you need.

Sebastian

Hi,

just remove VEPA and Exchange integration from your Cell Server and your report will report "licensing is covered" 🙂

Best regards

He is seriuos.

There is no need to install the exchange integration on the cell server neither the VEPA integration ...

-host "18" -os "microsoft i386 wNT-5.2-S" -mac 0018fe31d1b7 -cs A.06.20 -da A.06.20 -ma A.06.20 -cc A.06.20 -msese A.06.20 -msmbx A.06.20 -docs A.06.20 -vepa A.06.20

The only reason would be if you have installed DP on your exchange server which i would never advise.

@Daniel

Sorry

During the upgrade to 6.2 I indeed selected it.

After that I patched the Cell Manager to 6.21. How to uninstal these options? I'm getting the message "another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue."

You need to remove the components using Windows software management. Just "modify" the installation and unselect the components you want to remove. You might need to perform a "check installation" on the client in question to update Data Protector configuration files.

I already tried change in the Add or remove programs (Windows software Management), It is giving me the error "Data Protector A.06.20.msi is not a valid installation package for the product HP Data Protector A.06.20. Try to find the installation package Data Protector A.06.20.msi in a folder from which you can install HP Data Protector A.06.20"

Hi,

if uninstallation still not works... you might need to remove patch bundle 6.21, change DP as described by Sebastian and to install batch bundle again. Other way would be to upgrade to DP 7.0 (in my opinion the better choice compared to DP 6.21) and afterwards following Sebastians procedure.

If you still have problems send me a mail... there is another (quick & dirty) way.

Best regards

Daniel
