MSSQL SOURCE SIDE Backup failed

hi Experts!

Greetings!

we have a backup that is always have some error DB MSSQL

[Major] From: **PERSONAL INFORMATION REMOVED** "XXX-CG3-SOURCE-SIDE-XXXLOSDBS01-MSSQL-DB-F" Time: 7/13/2020 6:30:51 AM
[61:3003] Lost connection to B2D gateway named "XXX-CG3-SO4500-CATALYST-MSSQL-02"
on host XXXmlabakp006.robinsonsbank.com.ph.
Ipc subsystem reports: "IPC Cannot Connect
System error: [10061] Connection refused

the host XXXmlabakp006.robinsonsbank.com.ph is our Cell Manager, so its working. why do we have this error?

in backup spec, the backup is configured as SOURCE SIDE and we cant select other drive because of that.

what is the difference between source side backup and not source side?

Hello,

This error can be caused for several reasons.  However the message "Connection refused" is most likely caused by a security protocol such as a firewall, or something similar preventing the connection from the disk agent client to the media agent client (which is the same as your cell manager).

Source side deduplication causes the deduplication to occur on the source (disk agent) and therefore reduces the amount of data that has to travel over the LAN to the media agent machine.

I hope this helps.

Hi @SNB_jgs1

The firewall thing is a suggestion, and that can work. That's why it's troubleshooting: gives shoots until you bring down the problem.

About source-side, yes, the idea of that is use the same source, the SQL server, as the media agent. That is why you cannot select other gateways different than Source Side one.
