Migration tools from HP-UX to RHEL

Jump to solution

We are currently running DP 10.04 on HP-UX 11.31.  We are looking to move our cell manager to a RHEL 8.1 system.  Are there migration tools available to migrate the database?

Thanks

Hello @Blueskies

Yes, since that version HP-UX is not supported as CM. But the migration needs to be done on 10.40. You can see in the prerequisites in the link:

  • Migration of Cell Manager from HP-UX to Linux requires Data Protector 2019.05.

Hello @Juiceman863

That is possible just in DP 10.40. The steps are in the DP 10.50 guide: https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Data_Protector:2019.08/MigrateHPUXCellManager

One small correction - this is supported from 10.50 (2019.08) onwards, so it is supported with the latest version - see https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Data_Protector:2020.08/MigrateHPUXCellManager

Yes @Victor_F_DP , you are quite correct and I apologise if I confused the issue.  Absolutely DP 10.40 (2019.05) is the last version that supports HPUX as a CM, and for the migration the source CM must be 10.40.  The target version can be 10.50 or a later version all the way up to 10.80.

Thank you.  Do you know where I can download version 10.40 (aka 2019.05)?  I do not seem to find anything other than the latest to download.

Thanks again

You should be able to get it in the same page: https://entitlement.microfocus.com/mysoftware/index

If you do not see it, maybe you will need to contact the Licenses team, you can open a case with them over the chat: https://softwaresupport.softwaregrp.com/web/softwaresupport/chat-language-selection
