OB2 Username

Are the usernames case sensitive inside OB2 3.5s User admin tab? Username in NT are usually not case sensitive at all, but unless I make the accounts in compelete UPPER case, OB2 will not allow that user to do administration.

Re: OB2 Username

Usernames is one more area whre you can see Omniback's Unix heritage. In many cases we are indeed case sensitive. I think the Omniback/NT GUI will try and convert to uppercase for you.

One thing you will need to look out for, tho, is that because NT is not usually case sensitive, NT handles things in-consistently - for example a filename from the dos view would be FILE.TXT, elsewhere you might see file.txt or File.Txt.

We don't see a lot of uppercase lowercase issues, but they do bite us. For example, DNS names are in fact case sensitive on some platforms - even though on NT it is easy to ignore the case.

Watch out for case issues...this is the kind of subtle thing than is very easy to overlook.
Omniback and NT problems? double check name resolution, DNS/HOSTS...

Have a look at the following Doc ID OVFAQ001047 it has a few more details about what to do when a username is not recognised.
