OmniBackII

There is a function called magic packet in OmniBackII v3.1. When I enable this
function (plus the corresponding MAC address of the Desktop)nothing happens.
I can wake up this PC from a DOS Command Line without problems. The CellManager
is UNIX based.
How can I manage (many) overnight Desktop Backups?

Re: OmniBackII

You can user Omniback scheduler to do unattended backups.
If your cell manager is UNIX, you can call a script to kick off a certain backup at a specific time (or based on specific criteria) using cron.

A typical example would be as follows:

Cron:
00 00 * * * * /opt/omni/lbin/start_backup.sh
This would start the start_backup.sh at 00:00 hrs everyday which would in turn start the backup.

The contents of start_backup.sh file would tupically as follows:

/opt/omni/bin/omnib -datalist -no_monitor

Option used for omnib here is to do a file system backup. You should use other options if you are NOT using file system backup.
You should use no_monitor option, otherwise omnib will try to bring up the gui and sometimes may squeeze the OB database and give errors.

Hope this helps.
