Oracle recovery catalog backup Fails

Hi,

I have several DB backing up via Data Protector 6.20, all the backups were working fine, one day it stared giving me the error but not on all the systems only on a few the others are still working fine.

The backup of the DB completes but the error comes up when with the recovery catalog backup.

Here is the error that I receive.

Re: Oracle recovery catalog backup Fails

Hi,

is the backup running on Unix/Linux? Please epmty the folder /var/opt/omni/tmp. I had similiar errors in the past when backing up the control files. In my case this worked. To understand the root cause of the problem a debug is helpfull.

Best regards

Daniel

Re: Oracle recovery catalog backup Fails

Hi,

yes, the backup is running on Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 - 64-bits.

Theres nothing in the folder /var/opt/omni/tmp.

I guess I will try activate the debug.

Thanks for the reply.

http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Data-Protector-Support-and-News/Oracle-Backup-with-DataProtector-v6/td-p/3951119

This does not solve the problem but hides it.

Via GUI:

Backup dropbox -> Properties of the Oracle Backups -> Options -> Application Specific Options -> Check the "disable recovery catalog auto backup" box.

Does anyone knows if there is some way to change the default export utility from Oracle exp to expdp (datapump) in data protector?

Re: Oracle recovery catalog backup Fails

are the db and recovery catalog of the same version?

Re: Oracle recovery catalog backup Fails

Same issues here.

It seems firewall related overhere.

Once we allow _all_ traffic from the host containing the catalog db to the host we want to backup, it works.

We're still searching for the specific port numbers or traffic type as these change all the time (hence the allow all traffic)

Oracle isn't clear about this in there documentation (at least I haven't found it yet).
