From the GUI, just right-click on it and choose Preview Backup instead of Start Backup.

For omnib, just add -preview.
omnib -datalist -preview

Thanks,

Hi
Why don't you use GUI to preview a backup session?
Just Right click to the backup specification and choose "Preview Backup"
(See on the attachment).

When the preview is complete, you will see the message:
"Preview Completed!"
Click OK to close the Message box.
Verify that there are no abnormal messages in the Messages box.

Why are you posting in a thread from 2005? (And why am I replying?)

As a former Oracle DBA, I advise you to reconsider this line btw:

    delete noprompt archivelog until time 'sysdate-1';

If your Oracle DBA's see this, they are bound to explode. This is very dangerous practice and should (and can) be avoided. If your "backup archivelog all" fails (not enough disk space, network error, whatever), you __still__ delete the much needed archived redo logs!

It seems you want to backup every archived redo log just once. This is the safe alternative:

  delete noprompt archivelog all backed up 1 times to device type sbt_tape;

An archivelog will only be deleted if that archivelog is __successfully__ backed up at least once.
