Restore VM to NFS Datastore - don´t work

Hi Community,

we´re facing some troubles with NFS Datastores in a VMware 6.x Environment.

The Problem is, we are running a lot of VMs on NetApp NFS Datastores and backing them up with VEAGENT (DP 10.30) but if we would like to restore a VM from such a Datastore, some error occures "Error restoring item".

The interesting thing is, when i chose a VMFS Datastore for Restore, it works without any issues, just the restore from a VM to a NFS Datastore failes.

Has anyone an idea regarding that behaviour?

Best Regards

Re: Restore VM to NFS Datastore - don´t work

Hello @Markus Pernek,

Is the backup host selected (2nd tab of the VEPA restore dialog) for the restore itself a VM or a physical server? Have you configured any omnirc options on this backup host? If yes, please share them with us along with the full session report of the restore.

What are the exact VMware vCenter/ESXi versions? Is the restore done to vCenter or to a standalone/different ESXi?

Regards,
Sebastian Koehler

Re: Restore VM to NFS Datastore - don´t work

Good Morning @Sebastian.Koehler

regarding your Questions:

  • we are using a physical Server (Windows Server 2012 R2) for VM Backup (and Restore)
  • the Restore is done directly to the vCenter, not to an ESXi standalone host
  • We´re using Version 6.7.0 Build 11727113
