Retention versus Data protection

Jump to solution

I have a concern regarding Storeonce Catalyst Retention versus data protection periods (Backups and/or Pools)

So if i have different Retention periods for Backups, for example:

Daily backups 35 days

Weekly Backups 40 days

Montly Backups 5 years

Its reasonable i put the following periods for data protection as well DP as Storeonce Manager?

Daily Backups 38 days

Weekly Backups 45 days

Montly Backups 1 year and then configure an object copy to off site tape for rest of period 4 years?

Regards sorry but it seems i am confusing terms and features

Hello @Diego Biondo

I do not know what you refer to as protection on Storeonce Manager. But in DP, when you set the data protected, it will be there in the StoreOnce until it expires. So, until I know, there is no need to do anything more in the StoreOnce.
