SElinux DP10.50

Hi,

is enabling SElinux supported?

There seems to be some problems with it in older versions.

With the upcoming common_criteria_mode feature that should be included.

Re: SElinux DP10.50

Hello @Joe Watzko

According the documentation it is supported. If you have any specific issue with some feature tell us or open a support ticket. If the common_criteria_mode causes problems, open a support case.

Remember that some limitations exist when SELinux is enabled.

Re: SElinux DP10.50

Hi @Joe Watzko,

With the increasing need for security (hardend or at least default security that the OS vendors throwing at us) we need to be prepared. Can you submit an Idea to Idea Exchange to make all aspects of the product work with default security options turned on (SELinux) and maybe even AppArmor?

I found a few entities in the current documentation mentioning SELinux.

https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Data_Protector:2019.08/DisasterRecoveryUNIX
https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Data_Protector:2019.08/VMwareClients
https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Data_Protector:2019.08/InstallLinuxClients

If I recall correctly simple tasks such as remotely deploying a Linux client with SELinux=enforcing may have problems. On the other hand many (or nearly all) customers tend to disable SELinux and do not install AppArmor at all.

Sebastian Koehler
