Tapes protection

Hi,

I have a question regarding how the tape protection works.

For example, there are 3 backup jobs and their protection is 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 6 weeks. If all the 3 jobs are backed up using 1 tape. 3 weeks later, would I gain back the space (expired from the 2 weeks backup job) on the tape?

Hello,

The longest active protection on the media defines on how long the media will be protected. Tape is a sequential media so it willl be released only if all stored backup session have a expired protection.
