Hi,
I am unable to do any operation on DP 5.1 GUI.
I am getting a error message

I am not running any of the above said commands.
Can some one help me on this? , it will be much appriciated.

hi,
when you check your session history in the IDB - is there any session with status "running" - probably your IDB Backup Job in which a consistency check is enabled by default?

Hi,
I have tried restarting the DP services, no use. I am unable to see any session details, it throws the "can not open data base error"
IDB backp is shown as runningin the monitor option, aborted the back ups, still no use.
Regards
Raja

Hi,
Check whether you have dbcheck.lk file in/tmp
If found delete that file.
Run "omnidbcheck -extended" to verify IDB integrity.
This file (dbcheck.lk) might have left undeleted when a previous omnidbcheck/omnidbcheck aborted abnormally.

There is no file dbcheck.lk, in the tmp directory.
Tried running the Omnicheck -extended.
It gives the following error message.

Hi,
There is problem in the IDB. Open help topics and search for IDB trouble shooting to recover the situation.
You can also restore the IDB from previous known working IDB backup and import the catalogs since the previous IDB backup.
Refer to admin guide for IDB recovery.

Note: Restore of IDB is a special procedure. Follow the admin guide.

You have a database problem, yet it's still not been said what operating system the cell server is?
You say 5.1 GUI, so I assume you mean your cell server is also 5.1?
Thanks,
Scott

Hi,
Apologies.
Cell server is - Windows 2003
DP version - 5.1 with all latest patches.
There is no lock files in the temp folder.
Write DB works for MMDB, but does not works for CDB.
TRied replacing the existing DB40 with DB40 folder from new/fresh config, this works brings up an empty Data base.

You were probably missing one of the database files in the cdb directory. Nothing of interest in the RDS.log files?
If you look at the list of files under the db40 you replaced and the new one from newconfig, is anything missing?
Windows 2003. So you'll have to verify permissions for all the files and all the registry entries, etc., etc., etc.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi,
Yes, I did compare the files, they are same.
Have also confirmed the permission.
This error says "Cannot open database. Somebody is running omnidbcheck or omnidbutil command!" I am not able to get out of this error.
Even if i restore the last successful IDB backup, i am getting the same error.

hi,
stop dp services - check taskmanager if you can find any bsm.exe or bma.exe - kill those then
cut/paste the content of omniback\tmp to temp location - start services
Is the Database Session in the monitor gone?
Anything else changed?
