VMware VM Restore Error

Hi all,

Please your help, we have a successfully VM backup, but, we can't restore it by the following error:

[Warning] From: VEPALIB_VMWARE@dpmount-smartcache-proxy.int "/DCP"  Time: 8/7/2019 2:57:55 PM

      Upload from \a1f9f4e3-482d-4b7f-afcb-cb16babe1980\%2FDCP\vms\%2F4%2Fvcenter1.int.com%%2F72093e50-82ff-703e-fa16-a9c6b5d505ed\images\2\HPE_Simplivity_VM123-vss_manifests10.zip failed".

After we have the following warning, DP can't delete the folder, the funny thing is that the zip file is inside the folder, apparently:

[Warning] From: VEPALIB_VMWARE@dpmount-smartcache-proxy.int "/DCP"  Time: 8/7/2019 4:50:34 PM

      Could not delete file 'C:\ProgramData\OmniBack\tmp\37baf214-9b28-4884-865c-472c0dc797ba'

Please your comments about this issue.

Re: VMware VM Restore Error

Hello @Rafael-Antonio

Could you please confirm me your DP version. I have seen this error but only in DP 8 and older.

Also, did the restore ends or crashes after this warning?

Re: VMware VM Restore Error

The 3 objects listed in the session completed with no problems, the restore fails after that.

Looks like a problem with the backup host itself and not the VM.

Here creates the temporary folder:

[Normal] From: VEPALIB_VMWARE@backuphost "/DCP" Time: 8/6/2019 1:50:37 PM
Creating folder C:\ProgramData\OmniBack\tmp\836ad8dc-900a-42e2-8f86-c4a9face4bdb ...

Here fails to delete the same folder:

[Warning] From: VEPALIB_VMWARE@backuphost "/DCP" Time: 8/6/2019 3:18:58 PM
Could not delete file 'C:\ProgramData\OmniBack\tmp\836ad8dc-900a-42e2-8f86-c4a9face4bdb'

Knowing that, check the status of the restored VM. Also, check that user that runs the Inet on backup host server have full permissions C:\ProgramData\Omniback\

Re: VMware VM Restore Error

Hi, thanks,

My responses.

Check the status of the restored VM --> the VM doesn't boot, show a BSO,  if we uncheck the Quiescence on the job, and run a new full backup, the restore is successfully, but we need the Quiescence feature.

Also, check that user that runs the Inet on backup host server have full permissions C:\ProgramData\Omniback\ --> the Inet and Data Protector Filter Listener Service runs under Local System Account, could be a problem?

Re: VMware VM Restore Error

Try to change it to the same user as Inet.

If the error persists, I will suggest to generate debugs and open a support ticket.
