Virtual Environment Restore: NO objects are available for selected backup method

First attempt to use DP to backup our VM environment managed by vCenter.
Using 10.01  able to create backup jobs using the vCenter with successful backup but can't restore anything.
vCenter backup has few options and only has "vStorage iIage' as the  backup method.
Am I missing a license or misconfigured something or what?  I've used/read the DP virtualization doc top to bottom.   What other info do I need to provide?  Thanks for the help.

I forgot to mention the backup is to a StoreOnce library. Shouldn't matter i've used it in the past for non-VM backups with no issues.

Hello,

It might be best to open a case with the support organization.  To get started, a complete session report or a screen shot demonstrating the problem you are having is the best place to start from a troubleshooting perspective..

Hi SHoule,

While the link to the documentation is for Data Protector 10.03, which is the recommended version now, you should find all the information neccesary inside.

Data Protector Virtual Environment integration for VMware

Re: Virtual Environment Restore: NO objects are available for selected backup method

The document you pointed me to assumes ESXi servers are using 3PAR for storage.
My environment is either resident ESXi drives and/or NFS.
I can't submit a support case because  I don't get support with my "internal" license..
I don't want to waste anyone's time so my plan is to move to Veeam. ===SteveH

Re: Virtual Environment Restore: NO objects are available for selected backup method

Hi SteveH,

3PAR and Netapp ZDB are just options to the VMware Integration (VEPA). VEPA works great with any kind of VMFS, NFS and VVOL datastores. The following links should give you the required information.

Feel free to ask, we're here to help each other. It would be great if you can share a few screenshots of the Clients and Backup configuration and what you see in the Restore context.
