ZDB backup in Windows environment

Jump to solution
Hi,

regarding ZDB backup in Windows environment. We are going to upgrade our Windows backup server to Windows Server 2008 R2 version. This server is used in ZDB backup concept as a backup system (mounting S-vol disks of BC pairs) for other Windows servers, running Windows Server 2003 version? Is this configuration supported (application system - Windows Server 2003, backup system - Windows Server 2008 R2)?

Your help will be appreciated,

Hi,

It is definitely not supported. The other question is if it works. If you are using VSS integration, the answer is NO since MS has the statement on the web that it does not work.
If you use SSEA to perform backups, this might work but still it is not supported .

Thank you!

We are using SSEA agents.
Could you, please, point me to some document, to clarify, that this configuration is really not supported?

You are right. By looking at the support matrix, it is not clear if this combination is supported or not.
