restore VM to a point in time using file system backup

Hi All,,

is it possble to rollback a VM back to a point in time using  configured file system backup's Configurations object. The FS backup has Config, recovery partition and C drives objects included in the FS backup

Another team attempted to upgrade an application on a server and upgrade was unsuccessful and it left the application on the server not working.

We are hoping that we can restore the server to state prior to the time application was upgraded, using the filesystem backup.

I restored the entire files over the current files on the server, rebooted the server when restore finished. The server just bluescreens on startup.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hello @Adesola007

In the way you are telling is not possible. You cannot just replace the OS files because the OS will crash.

To restore the entire OS with the files and more, you need the Disaster Recovery feature. That is an additional component that can help you to create a bootable ISO to restore all the server.

Here the details about that: https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Data_Protector:2020.08/EnhancedAutomatedDisasterRecovery

Hi Victor_F_DP,

Thanks for checking this so quickly!

>From what I read in the link, the EADR procedure talks about repartitioning the boot volumes and all.is there no easier way to do this as The server is up and running at the moment.

I still need to go get the step by step instructions on creating the boot disk and all.. perhaps I will understand it better

This EADR process is to recover the server to a point in time. It will recover the OS and files. And the same process is in charge to do all the repartitioning.
