db_owner Privileges on Databases for Enterprise Anayzer

db_owner Privileges on Databases for Enterprise Anayzer

Problem:

db_owner privileges are required for users using enterprise databases (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server) with Enterprise Analyzer.  In some cases, these privileges are considered elevated and difficult to assign to general users.  DBAs may be reluctant to grant these privileges.

User is requesting if there are alternatives to db_owner privileges.

Resolution:

db_owner is only absolutely required when using SQL Express workspaces as this involves creating a database at the time the Workspace is required.

For enteprise databases, other privileges can be granted.

Roles:

db_writer, db_reader

Permissions:

USE mydatabase;

GRANT ALTER TO myuser;

GRANT REFERENCES TO myuser;

GO
