AcuToWeb Desktop will not attach to a program running in Firefox when SSL is enabled in AcuToWeb

PROBLEM

If AcuToWeb is running with SSL enabled then AcuToWeb Desktop will not attach to the program when running in the Firefox browser.

RESOLUTION

This is caused by a configuration option in Firefox that locks down web sockets when visiting a secure https:// URL

To allow the connection between the program running in the Firefox browser and AcuToWeb Desktop, navigate to the following address in the Firefox browsers address bar:

about:config

In the search bar of that page (not the browsers address bar) search for the following setting:

network.websocket.allowInsecureFromHTTPS

Right click on this setting and click ‘Toggle’. The value should now be ‘True’

Now when visiting the AcuToWeb connection setup screen after starting AcuToWeb Desktop, it will attach correctly and be waiting for the program to start.
