[archive] Assigning Printer With Ip Address

[Migrated content. Thread originally posted on 22 April 2008]

I am trying to assign a printer by
SET ENVIRONMENT "PRINTER" TO "-D ip address"
When I do this I get statud 94 20 for my printer file. Is there a syntax problem or can I not assign using an ip address. This works ok when the printer is assigned using //domain name/printer name

Then what you ought to do is to install a driver for the printer. The driver can be something as simple as the generic printer driver.
During installation you will be prompted for the port, this is where you can state that you want to use an IP address.
Then access the printer using -P SPOOLER or -P SPOOLER-DIRECT.
