[archive] DB2 and fetch limits

[Migrated content. Thread originally posted on 06 October 2004]

I am trying to code a DB2 sql fetch statment, and find the pre-compiler will not let me have a receiving field greater than 254 bytes, even though the manual says theat a varchar (pic x) can be up to 4000 bytes, any ideas?

ps the pre-compiler is the IBM supplied for DB2
