[archive] Internal Sort Limitation

[Migrated content. Thread originally posted on 03 May 2006]

Many of our report programs utilize the internal sort routine in AcuGT. Our application utilizes AcuThin connected to a AIX or LINUX server. The programs are started from a main menu program and each runs in its own window which is modeless. If a user starts two programs and each requires an internal sort, the second program will fail as AcuGT currently only supports one sort per runtime.

Does anyone else see this as a severe limitation to the applications they create in AcuGT?

Does anyone have suggestions as to how to get around this limitation?

We have considered starting a second runtime from within the application but that means potentially doubling the number of user licenses. We are currently looking at 7.2 AcuSort capabilities and/or CoSort.
