[archive] Masked Entry Fields

[Migrated content. Thread originally posted on 18 October 2010]

I was reading around in the forum and found some mention of Masked Entry Fields (Microsoft ActiveX component that is on the bench install dvd??) but I can't find this on the install disks we have.

I have attempted to use the Additional Properties and/or the Format Picture. I have found various success in displaying the information as I wanted but in the end when a user goes back to edit what was in the field it is strange.

For an example think of Social Security Numbers Entry Field:
1. Value is PIC 9(09)
2. Format Picture is 999B99B9999
3. Additional Properties is "blank when zeros"

Anyone else have success doing this type of display one way and save another without using Before and After procedures to manipulate the data by hand?

Thanks
