[archive] Speaking of Entry Fields

[Migrated content. Thread originally posted on 14 July 2005]

I am using a multiline entry field. Value-Mutiple is set to true. Notify-Change is set to true. Vscroll-Bar is set. The max lines and max text are variable with max text dynamically set as a function of lines and size of the value picture.

I can continously key in data until the max lines/data limt is reached and the warning message pops up. However, when I highlight and delete or position the cursor and use the destructive back space there are times when I cannot then key in replacement data. Even though the characters can be seen retreating as I delete or back space the instant I try to key in another character the limit reached warning pops up again. This does not appear to follow a pattern that I can determine. Just sort of on again off again.

This is 6.2 Acubench developed and generated code.

Thanks for any help.

RE: [archive] Speaking of Entry Fields

Behind the scenes here, the runtime uses the Windows API edit control. I suspect this to be a limitation of the edit control rather than the runtime.
