[archive] Version 7.2.0 and glibc errors

[Migrated content. Thread originally posted on 28 June 2007]

Hi,

When upgrading from Acu 5.2 to 7.2 and glibc 2.2 to glibc 2.3 (RHEL2 to RHEL4), some of our users are getting these errors:-
*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption
*** glibc detected *** free() : invalid next size(fast)
Has anyone seen (or hopefully resolved) these errors before?

We thought we had resolved it on one site by recompiling their object using version 7.2 compiler, but it didn't help with the other site that is exhibiting the same behaviour. The old object works fine on the old run-time. It doesn't happen in all programs, but it is repeatable in those that do exhibit the error.

I've sent the issue to tech-support, so this is a general query to see if anyone else has come across it before.

Thanks,

Ian
