After Filr 4.0 Upgrade cannot login as admin

Filr 4.0 ALL-IN-ONE upgrade from Filr 3.4.3

Everything went smooth. I can login as vaadmin and as root at https://<IP>:9443. There I can do all there is to do.
But when I try to login with https://<IP> or https://<IP>:8443 as admin I get an error "(kablink) Could not open index writer".
First of all I do not understand, why the admin passord has got lost during migration.

I found TID 7012569 (https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7012569) which is for MySQL.
Logged in as vaadmin and using the phpPgAdmin icon, choosing the database filr, I could manage to use the sql statement
select name,password from SS_Principals where name='admin';
from the TID but not the reset command
UPDATE SS_Principals SET password='uQgmrEdsBQnB/HOh1w87ooxE5a66U5u/Y5k2EIlNJLw=' WHERE name='admin' and type='user';
There I get

ERROR: syntax error at or near "SET"
LINE 1: ...LECT COUNT(*) AS total FROM (UPDATE SS_Principals SET passwo...
^

I'm not fit with SQL ... 😞

Does anyone know how I can reset the admin password (or what I did possible wrong during upgrade to 4.0)?

Best regards, Uwe.

Re: After Filr 4.0 Upgrade cannot login as admin

... in the meantime I found out that the SQL command
select name,password from SS_Principals where name='admin';
gives the same result in Filr 3.4.3 (MySQL) and in Filr 4.0 (Postgres),
so the admin password seem to have survived the upgrade to Filr 4.0.

But I cannot login to Filr 4.0 as admin. There must be some reason... but what?

Was your FiLR startet with an early version? (1.2 or so)?
Get the same error after the migration

Go to /vastorage/filr/lucene/ and move the index directory kablink to
kablink.old, create a new dir kablink and set the owner as the old
directory had and reboot. After this you can login and start the
complete re-index process.

Check for sufficient space before! And delete the old index afterwards.

... hey Bernd, you are great. This did the trick.
Do you know why this is working?
Many thanks.

I assume you started you FiLR usage with an early version 1.1 or 1.2?

There the Lucene Indexer has an old format which the new lucene was not
able to read. Thats my speculation.

I am a little bit disappointed that the migration tool does not detect
this and removes the old index by itself ... but now the solution comes
(via nntp 😉 to the forum.

Re: After Filr 4.0 Upgrade cannot login as admin

Hi,

I assume, it´s a good idea to do the steps adviced in TID before upgrade
to 4.0?

Thanks for the explanation.
