Edit a shared file in WEB-application

I'm new to filr, so please forgive me, if the answer here is obvious, but I can't find it...

A colleague has shared a file with me. I can download it to my PC, edit, but I don't know how to upload the edited version?
I can not edit directly in the browser due to some windows 7/java/something problem.

In Net Folders, I can just drag and drop, but this doesn't seem to work with shared files.

We're using filr 2.0, and I do have Editor access to the shared file.

Kind regards

Re: Edit a shared file in WEB-application

Hi Jens,

yes, unfortunately you're right!
The only way to edit a single file that was shared with you (and save it back) is using:
- the Filr Desktop Client
- the Mobile App
- the browser interface using the Java-Applet
If you need/want to use the browser but don't have a Java applet running smoothly (or a browser without NPAPI support) you are f...ed. ("filred" 😉 )
Vibe (which is Filr's big brother) at least has a normal upload button & functionality but for Filr they removed this feature.

Maybe https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7017776 can help you to fix your Java problem. (you're not the only one with Java/Applet issues. Everyone's affected at the moment.)

I'd suggest you post your issue as an idea on https://ideas.microfocus.com/mfi/novell-filr . If it get's a lot of votes MF might consider implementing a solution in the next version of Filr.

Cheers
